Where marks are lost in DTZ (A2–B1)

The DTZ is scored on a scale between A2 and B1 — and B1 is what many procedures require. The gap between A2 and B1 is often a few points in one or two parts.

01

Listening at everyday speed

Announcements, calls and conversations at natural speed, heard once. This part often decides between A2 and B1.

02

Writing: a short letter with given points

The point is covering every point, not writing a lot. Writing long and missing one costs more than writing short and covering them all.

03

Speaking: planning with a partner

Propose, respond, agree. Staying silent or agreeing with everything loses marks even if your German is clean.

Structure and duration of DTZ (A2–B1)

The German Test for Immigrants (DTZ) is the official final exam of the German integration course and is scored on a scale between A2 and B1.
